Two Narrative Essay Sample Papers
Two Narrative Essay Sample PapersOutlined below are two narrative essay sample papers. Both samples, which are called MLA based narrative essays, demonstrate different styles and various degrees of narrative in both the samples.A-Example: A proposal for a grade A: this student's voice is described using the MLA format and an emphatic writer's voice. The narrative at the end of the first paragraph is not for explaining facts but as a way to bring the reader into the story. This story is introduced by the thesis statement, 'the student's life has been in turmoil since the arrival of the new freshman.'B-Example: In the second paragraph the student explains the student's struggles with Adderall, which was the central point of the first paragraph. She writes, 'After the first couple of weeks of classes, every class had been thrown together to teach the new freshman about Adderall. The student lived with his parents for two weeks while they tried to figure out what the hell was wrong with him. Then they decided it was time to go back to school. In the third paragraph, the student expresses frustration that the time she was given to write was spent on Adderall. After describing her daily activities, she says that she looked forward to writing the story, to being able to explain her side of the drama. At the end of the article, the student reiterates her frustrations, writing, 'As the semester progressed, I became increasingly tired and depressed.' This statement reflects the tense of the narrative, in that the student stresses the process of writing the narrative, without elaborating that it is for use in a final exam.C-Example: In a teacher's dissertation, the student's sentence style is somewhat similar to B-Example above. The student begins by describing his problems with taking Adderall, then describes how they were resolved, ending with a summary. In the next paragraph he describes how he has had a difficult time writing but finds the challenge enjoyable. In one exa mple, the student's writing style is very similar to D-Example above. The student begins by recounting the Adderall problems, then describes her struggles with ADHD and finally describes the great job he did write the text. At the end of the article, the student states that he did the best he could and still could not overcome his ADHD.Narrative Essay Sample Papers may be found at several locations online.
